About me
Artist bio
I have always drawn ever since I was itty bitty like most, my parents were not artists but both my older siblings drew quite a bit. When I was in elementary a lot of my inspiration came from those little fashion tracing books, I loved using them to dress up little characters. At about that same time, I got really into anime starting young because of my dad and siblings as well. Around 7th to 8th grade, I used proper paint for the first time. The day my middle school art teacher taught my class how to watercolor it was a real turning point. I wasn’t particularly good at it, but I loved using watercolor to do entirely too big drawings of characters from shows I liked. As well as drawing random women with a side part bang, for some reason. As I got into high school, which happened to be an arts-driven one, I saw a lot more people doing art at higher levels than me. I did not take that lightly and I started pushing out way more art from 9th to 11th grade because I refused not to be at least as good as my peers. Art has always been something that in every way I know if I have no other skills, I do have that. And in my current art career looking back at my old work I don’t feel shame in them being bad. I see art as an old friend that grew up with me denouncing them and would like to denounce a child for having fun.

I’m an artist who enjoys a lot of variety in my work. The earliest is of course acrylic, I’m sure I used it in elementary but my first real acknowledgment of it was in middle school. It was something opaque and simple to use and it allowed for quick work that’s very forgiving. Today in my work I usually use my acrylics to do very impressionist paintings. I like to be very hands-on and rough with acrylic. Next up is watercolor, which I was taught in middle school as well, and I’ve come far since then. I see watercolor as a medium it’s important to acknowledge in how it wants to work and trust your supplies. When I got to make a watercolor painting I never ‘replicate’ something I interpret something. I like keeping the identity of the watercolors throughout the piece, they aren’t meant to be some strict thing they are meant to flow. In high school I was introduced to oil paint, At first I was very on the fence about it because of the fact it takes at least 4 lifetimes to dry. However, in recent years I found out about water mixable oils and since then I use them whenever I have space to dry a painting. There are a lot of technical ways to use oils that I was taught but I prefer to be elbow deep in my paint at all times. I use my hands a lot when using oils. My most recent art medium is digital I’ve only been using it for 1-2 years and it’s found its place in my process. I usually use digital for fairly graphic and stylized art of my characters however I have gotten into doing digital painting as well.
